Church Saves Thousands in Rented Vehicle Damage
A Kentucky church's youth group rented a van to drive to Louisville for a youth rally. While driving on the interstate, the driver of the van was unable to stop in heavy traffic when the vehicle in front of him braked suddenly. The van rear-ended the car in front of it, totaling both vehicles. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but the claim was significant.
Before we wrote the account with Brotherhood Mutual, the church had hired auto liability coverage, with no physical damage coverage, and was required to report rental vehicles. Fortunately, the church worked with our team to switch to Brotherhood Mutual insurance coverage before the accident happened, so the claim was completely covered, including physical damage to the rented van. If the church still had coverage under its previous carrier, the physical damage to the rental van would not have been covered because the church was not aware that the group was renting a vehicle for the trip.
